Virginians Helping Virginians, Help Virginia's Victims of Natural Disasters

Virginia ABC is collecting tax deductible donations at its store registers to help Virginians who suffered losses from severe natural disasters in 2011. From April tornadoes to the August earthquake to Hurricane Irene, several people were killed and thousands of homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed.

Contributions will go to the Virginia Disaster Relief Fund established by Gov. Bob McDonnell. Donations will be accepted via cash, credit or debit cards. ABC sales associates will assist with tax deductible donations, and a separate receipt will be issued. Please consider taking part in this important initiative by helping Virginians in need.

“Virginians care about one another and that giving nature has been very apparent as people from all over help the communities impacted by this year’s severe natural disasters. There is much work left to be done, and more resources are necessary to rebuild. I ask that citizens and businesses lend a helping hand to those in need and provide what you can to help those impacted by these severe weather events. This money raised through the donations from individuals, corporations and fellow Virginians, along with more than $600,000 we have pledged from state sources, will provide needed aid to those putting their lives back together.”
— Governor Bob McDonnell
