Virginia ABC's 75th Anniversary 1934 - 2009
March 7, 1934 marked a decisive moment in Virginia history, when in response to the repeal of Prohibition, the General Assembly voted to adopt a "liquor control plan," creating the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Now, in our 75th year, Virginia ABC celebrates its continued commitment to excellence in control, service and revenue, and salutes the employees whose hard work and dedication built the foundation on which the agency stands today.
